Job Opportunity – Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) RN – North Carolina

Start Date: July 20, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715), 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, every other weekend required (minimum 6 weekend shifts per contract), self-scheduling

Highlights:

  • Comprehensive critical care experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and failure
  • Advanced skills including ventilator management, vasoactive drip titration, and hemodynamic monitoring
  • State-of-the-art technology including EPIC charting, Pyxis medication system, and Tele-ICU support
  • 24-hour unit orientation with interdisciplinary support from respiratory services and interpretation services
  • Opportunity to float to Medical-Surgical units as needed for expanded clinical experience
  • Common diagnoses include sepsis, DKA, COPD, and heart failure

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Experience with EPIC charting system required
  • Proficiency in critical care procedures including central line management, arterial line management, blood product administration, and ventilator care
  • Competency in managing complex conditions including acute kidney injury, liver failure, respiratory failure, and pulmonary embolism
  • Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV sedation, and emergency medications
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
