Job Opportunity – Pediatric Float Pool Registered Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: July 20, 2026
Location: Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Days, 36 or 48 hours per week, 13-week assignment; Every other weekend and holiday required; Block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Highlights:

  • Float pool role rotating through multiple pediatric specialty units including PICU, NICU, Pediatric Medical-Surgical, Pediatric PACU, Pediatric ED boarders, and Mother/Baby
  • Work with a state-of-the-art children's hospital serving as a regional transfer center with advanced therapies including ECMO and hypothermia treatment
  • Epic charting system utilized across all units
  • 60 hours of orientation provided; Up to 40 hours of time off permitted (no time off during first 2 weeks)
  • Collaborate with robust interdisciplinary teams including Child Life Specialists, Respiratory Therapy, Physical/Occupational Therapy, and specialized physician partners
  • Diverse patient population ranging from neonates to adolescents with complex cardiac, medical, surgical, and trauma diagnoses

Requirements:

  • Active Virginia RN license (may submit with pending license; must have in-hand by Wednesday before start date)
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • NICU experience required; must be comfortable floating to PICU, NICU, Pediatric ED, and Acute Pediatrics
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP required
  • Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit pending; $185 cost)
  • Epic experience required
  • Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
  • Previous charge experience and BSN preferred
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
  • Professional references required at time of submission
