Description
Start Date: August 3, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Weekend block scheduling (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) or 4x12 shifts (Thursday-Sunday or Friday-Monday). Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM or 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Patient ratio 2:1.
Highlights:
- 18-bed Neuroscience ICU within a Comprehensive Stroke Center at Wisconsin's top-ranked, Magnet-designated facility
- Specialized patient population including stroke, traumatic brain injury, post-neurosurgery, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and spinal cord injury
- Advanced critical care skills required: ICP monitoring, external ventricular drains (EVD), lumbar drains, ventilator management, vasoactive drip titration, and hypothermia protocols
- Epic EMR system used throughout facility
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Collaborative, nurse-driven team environment with supportive leadership and nationally certified physicians
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin or Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years acute care ICU experience within the last 3 years; neurosurgery experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- ICU and IMC patient population experience; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA only)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation and telemetry experience; must pass telemetry exam prior to start (strict passing criteria apply)
- Experience with ICP monitoring or ventriculostomy management required
- Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, hemodynamic monitoring, and titration of vasoactive drips
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility
- Willingness to float as needed
