Description
Start Date: August 3, 2026
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- High-acuity 48-bed mixed Med-Surg/Telemetry/PCU unit serving adult and geriatric populations
- Patient population includes COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, chest tubes, and ventilator-dependent patients
- Target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5, with enhanced support staff including team lead, respiratory therapists, admission/discharge nurse, and assistant nurse manager on every shift
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of paid orientation
- 13-week contract with ability to accommodate block scheduling when unit needs are met
- Float requirement to similar units within the facility
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry or Progressive Care nursing experience
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with chest tubes, central line management, and cardiac/vasoactive drips (heparin, dopamine, cardizem)
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
- First-time travelers accepted; local candidates considered
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
