Description
Start Date: July 22, 2026 (subject to final confirmation based on orientation scheduling)
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00 AM to 11:00 AM (8-hour shifts with lunch), 40 hours per week
Highlights:
- Specialized histology position requiring Immunohistochemistry (IHC) experience
- Work with a collaborative team of 4 histotechs processing an average of 500 blocks per night
- 13-week contract available with no call or float requirements
- Epic EMR experience preferred; modern equipment including Leica Peloris and Tissue Tek processors
- Comprehensive orientation program (2.75 hours online, 8 hours in-person)
- Full availability required during first week to accommodate orientation schedule flexibility
Requirements:
- ASCP-HT certification required (ASCP-HTL preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of histotechnology experience in a hospital clinical laboratory setting
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC) experience is essential
- Proficiency in grossing and fixation techniques including core biopsies, curettings, decalcification, and excision specimens
- Expertise in tissue processing with automatic tissue processors, including calcified/decalcified tissue and GI processing schedules
- Advanced embedding and microtomy skills using automated/manual microtomes and cryostats
- Strong staining competencies including H&E stain, basic dye stains, artifact identification, and slide preparation
- Current flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- North Carolina or Compact state licensure
