Description
Start Date: August 10, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Self-scheduling with variable shifts based on unit needs; goal staffing ratio 1:4-1:5; weekend coverage required per unit rotation
Highlights:
- 36-bed Hematology Oncology Med/Surg unit specializing in lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, and benign hematology
- Diverse case mix including chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome), and insulin/heparin drips
- 72 hours of orientation including preceptor-led on-unit training
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, rapid response teams, physical therapy, and social services
- Epic EMR charting system with telemetry monitoring on unit
- ONS certification preferred with compensation incentive
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; OCN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of acute care Med/Surg experience required (must be current within the last 12 months)
- Hematology Oncology experience strongly preferred but not required
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation, IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line management, PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with Epic charting system required
- Willingness to float to other Med/Surg and Oncology units
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or director)
- Graduation from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Ohio fingerprinting must be completed urgently upon contract signing

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
