Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week; Weekend schedule includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks available. On-call requirement based on patient census. Floating required.
Highlights:
- Primary cardiac and stroke telemetry unit with high patient turnover (78-90 patients weekly)
- Target nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6; must be comfortable with surge assignments up to 6 patients
- Experience with cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone), pre/post cardiac procedures, pacemakers, cardiac catheterization, and TR bands
- EPIC charting system (Dimensions) with Pyxis medication management
- Team lead support for admissions and discharges in this fast-paced environment
- 36-hour orientation provided during first week; must be available daily for hospital orientation
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac telemetry or progressive care experience with similar ratios and acuity
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
- Strong IV start skills and telemetry interpretation
- Ability to titrate cardiac drips, manage vasoactive medications, and interpret dysrhythmias
- Experience with cardiac patients including CVA/TIA, CHF, unstable angina, post-cardiac catheterization, and dysrhythmias
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- First-time travelers welcome; PCU experience preferred but not required with strong cardiac telemetry background
