Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights rotating or Nights only). Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs. 2:1 patient ratio across all shifts. 72 hours orientation provided.
Highlights:
- 24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit specializing in complex, hemodynamically compromised patients
- Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and rapid response teams
- Epic electronic charting system required
- Common patient diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleeds, sepsis, and autoimmune disorders
- Advanced treatment modalities including mechanical ventilation, CRRT (NxStage machines), pulmonary artery catheter placement, arterial pressure monitoring, chemotherapy administration, and plasmapheresis
- Up to two pre-approved time-off periods available
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in ICU/critical care setting required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
- Epic charting system experience mandatory
- Proficiency in mechanical ventilation, IV starts, and critical care procedures including arterial line management, vasoactive drip titration, CRRT, central line management, and continuous IV sedation
- Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required (1 must be manager/director level)
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing
- Former employees must have been away from facility for 6+ months

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
