Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; self-scheduling with requests accommodated when possible; variable weekend coverage based on unit needs
Highlights:
- Specialty focus on newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients in a 24-bed inpatient hematology-oncology unit
- High-acuity medical care including administration of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
- Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, may extend to 1:5 based on census
- Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services
- Structured orientation: First week Monday–Friday day shift, followed by 36 hours of precepted on-unit training
- Contract assignment with potential for day shifts, night shifts, or rotating schedule based on departmental needs
Requirements:
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license)
- Minimum of 2 years overall nursing experience required
- Current medical-surgical oncology experience with at least 1 year of inpatient hematology-oncology in recent work history
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification (required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- NIHSS certification (preferred)
- Demonstrated competency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, central line management, PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with leukemia/blood dyscrasias is a critical requirement
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership role)

Additional Information:
Candidates must be available to complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon contract signing to meet strict compliance deadlines. Flu vaccination is required (medical exemptions only). Float assignments may occur to other medical-surgical oncology units as needed. Former employees are eligible if separated from the facility for 6 months or more.

Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
