Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week with every other weekend
Highlights:
- 32-bed Mixed Acuity Stepdown/PCU unit with average daily census of 25-32 patients
- Diverse patient population including medical diagnoses and pre/post-surgical patients with PCU-level acuity
- Epic charting system in use at this teaching hospital environment
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
- First-time travelers welcomed; one pre-approved time-off request allowed per contract
- 36-hour orientation provided to ensure smooth transition
Requirements:
- Valid Ohio RN license or compact license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent progressive care or stepdown experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- Experience with similar PCU/Stepdown patient populations
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor)
- Ability to float within the organization as needed
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Rapid response and code team participation
- IV therapy including blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
- Central line, PICC line, and port management
- Heparin protocol management and cardiac drip administration
- Respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
- Wound care and wound vac management
- Pre- and post-surgical patient care
- Tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and arterial line experience
- Teaching hospital experience welcomed
Additional Details:
- Float and call coverage required as part of unit operations
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing due to strict compliance deadlines
- Parking permit options available ranging from $16.35 to $224.80 per month with various access levels
- Scrub color and uniform details provided during orientation
