Description
Start Date: September 8, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week, 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
Highlights:
- Specialized neuro unit with a focus on cerebrovascular accidents and general neurological conditions
- Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks available with flexibility for both 36 and 48-hour weekly schedules
- EPIC charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
- Comprehensive 24-hour orientation program with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend (5-6 weekend shifts per schedule period)
- First-time travelers accepted; collaborative team environment focused on patient safety
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required or obtained prior to start
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Competency in IV starts and maintenance, peripheral line care, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience with patient ratios of 6-7 patients preferred
- Neurological nursing experience strongly preferred
- Charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the charge role preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Willingness to float to other units as needed; float first policy applies

Additional Information:
- Navy blue scrubs required (not provided)
- Manager-created block scheduling
- Up to 7 days of time off may be approved; no holidays or first week off permitted
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays during contract period
- Contract staff may be assigned to storm/hurricane response teams and required to report during catastrophic events
- Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours, non-billable)
- Strict attendance policy enforced; call-offs may result in contract cancellation
