Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs; variable weekend coverage based on unit requirements
Highlights:
- Specialized acute leukemia and hematology unit caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
- Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, maximum 1:5
- 72-hour orientation with interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and more
- Epic electronic charting system with GE telemetry monitoring
- No chemotherapy certification required (ONS Chemo Cert preferred but not mandatory)
- 13-week travel assignment with one pre-approved time off period
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU/Stepdown experience
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS and ONS Chemo certifications preferred
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
- Experience with feeding tube care and management, and use of rapid response teams
- Epic charting experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

You'll work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment with a strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety. The unit provides comprehensive support services and advanced resources to ensure high-quality patient care for adults and geriatric patients with acute leukemia diagnoses.
Additional Information:
- May float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units as needed
- Daily census approximately 22 patients on a 24-bed unit
- Special focus on infection prevention and patient fall prevention protocols
- Medical unit with high volume of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Equipment includes B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
- Parking options available through facility partner at various price points
- Strict compliance deadline: Tuesday prior to start date
- Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed immediately upon contract signing
- Former facility employees eligible after 6-month separation period

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
