Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights). Self-scheduling requests accepted to accommodate preferred schedules before finalizing. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs. Variable weekend coverage based on unit needs.
Highlights:
- Specialized acute leukemia and hematology unit caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
- Medical unit with high volume of blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
- Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, maximum 1:5
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
- Comprehensive orientation: First week Monday-Friday day shift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit preceptored orientation
- 24-bed unit with daily census of approximately 22 patients
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license)
- Minimum 2 years of overall nursing experience required
- Medical-surgical oncology experience and at least 1 year of inpatient hematology oncology experience required
- Current acute care experience within the last 12 months in hematology oncology specialty
- Previous travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
- BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemotherapy Certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with leukemia/blood dyscrasias is mandatory
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia monitoring, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line management, PICC line care, and feeding tube management
- Epic charting system experience required
- Nursing degree from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

- Former employees eligible after 6 months separation from facility

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
