Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. Patient ratios 1:5-6. Floating to similar units and alternate care locations required.
Highlights:
- Comprehensive patient population including orthopedic trauma, neurological trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, and general surgery overflow
- Epic documentation system with Pyxis and SBAR protocols
- Advanced skills utilized: heparin drips, blood product administration, central line management, chest tubes, external fixators, and tracheostomy care
- Robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and lift teams
- 28 hours of orientation (12 hours unit-specific, 16 hours organizational)
- Accepts first-time travelers with minimum 2 years of recent experience
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact license)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience within the last 5 years
- BLS certification required; ACLS strongly preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Competency with heparin drips, PCA, colostomy care, feeding tube management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts
- Experience with dysrhythmia management, oxygen protocol, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, and wound care
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must be comfortable with 1:5-6 patient ratios
