# Job Opportunity – Cardiac Telemetry / Stepdown RN – North Carolina

Schedule:

Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week contracts available. Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling). Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients.

Highlights:

- Comprehensive cardiac and vascular surgical patient population including post-CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, carotid procedures, and electrophysiology cases- Epic charting system with 24 hours of unit orientation provided- Advanced cardiac skill development including sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, and chest tube management- Float assignment follows standard unit rotation; comprehensive interdisciplinary team support including pharmacy, respiratory services, rapid response, and therapy services- 44-bed unit with average daily census of 41 patients; navy scrub uniform provided- Opportunity to work with specialized equipment including arterial lines, Doppler, femoral sheaths, TR bands, and epicardial pacing wires

Requirements:

- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac floor experience required- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date- Required skills: Cardiac telemetry, stepdown/PCU experience, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac cath management, cardiac drip management and titration, chest tube management, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP, nasal cannula)- Familiarity with patient diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, and vascular conditions- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Preferred Qualifications:

- Arterial line management experience- Wound care and wound VAC experience- Previous charge nurse experience- Epic charting system experience

Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters.
