Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), every other weekend required with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Highlights:
- High-volume birthing unit with over 300 births per month and approximately 20 births in 24 hours
- Fast-paced environment with 2:1 patient ratios; double labor assignments are a daily occurrence
- Epic EMR system with 24 hours of orientation provided
- 13 to 26-week contract options available
- Float opportunities within the Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit as needed
- Full interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, radiology, and rapid response teams
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required; 3 years strongly preferred
- Documented experience working in a high-volume facility with greater than 300 births per month
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Current certifications: BLS, AWHONN Intermediate (or C-EFM), and NRP
- Competency in circulating for C-sections, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Ability to manage high-acuity patients and work in a very fast-paced environment
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)

The unit provides comprehensive care for obstetrical patients from 16 weeks gestation through delivery, including high-risk antepartum and postpartum care, obstetrical triage, and both scheduled and emergency cesarean births. You'll be supported by a full interdisciplinary team and gain valuable experience in one of the busiest and most challenging L&D environments, making this an excellent opportunity for nurses who thrive in fast-paced settings and want to elevate their career.
