Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours weekly
Highlights:
- High-volume Level 4 Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 450 deliveries per month
- Electronic Medical Record system: Epic experience required
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Orientation: 36 hours provided to ensure smooth transition
- Flexibility may be required to float to antepartum and other units within the organization as needed
- Pre-approved time off available (up to two requests)
Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse license (valid compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Active certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP required
- Additional certification: AWHONN Advanced or NCC C-EFM (C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Proficiency in IV starts and venipuncture
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor)
Clinical Skills:
- Comprehensive Labor & Delivery care including vaginal delivery, cesarean section support, and circulating for C-sections
- Antepartum and postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessment
- High-risk obstetrical care: pregnancy-induced hypertension, postpartum hemorrhage, magnesium sulfate therapy
- Fetal monitoring expertise: external and internal fetal monitoring, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Advanced procedures: epidural anesthesia support, Pitocin administration, IUPC placement and calibration
- Newborn care: APGAR scoring, radiant warmers, thermoregulation, breastfeeding support
- Triage of obstetrical patients and patient assessment/management
Patient Population:
- Neonates, adolescents, and adults
- Standard nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1
Compliance & Onboarding:
- Strict compliance deadline: Tuesday prior to start date (no exceptions)
- Ohio fingerprinting required immediately upon contract signing – process must be completed urgently
- Candidates within driving distance of Ohio must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Former employees eligible after 6 months away from the organization
- Current employees of the organization are not eligible for travel assignments
