Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week; 13-26 week assignment; Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract; Patient ratio typically 1:5-6
Highlights:
- Med/Surg unit with telemetry capabilities including remote monitoring and on-unit monitoring
- Diverse patient population including diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, CVA, CHF, post-surgical recovery, and COVID patients in designated isolation area
- EPIC charting system with Pyxis medication dispensing and SBAR communication protocols
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and physical therapy
- 24-hour orientation program with pre-start online modules (8-10 hours)
- First-time travelers accepted; local candidates welcome
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg and/or Telemetry experience
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Valid North Carolina or Compact state RN license (pending license accepted for submission)
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Proficiency in IV therapy, blood product administration, central line management, wound care, and isolation precautions
- Competency with respiratory support equipment including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and chest tubes
- Experience with feeding tubes, colostomy care, pre/post hemodialysis management, and insulin protocols
- Ability to float within the facility as needed
- Willingness to participate in Storm Team/Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
