Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), 36 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 2:1, may flex to 3:1 during high census. Floating within facility required. No call requirement.
Highlights:
- Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in neuro critical care with daily census of 11-12 patients
- Contract length flexible from 13+ weeks through February 27, 2027
- Patient population includes strokes (ischemic and hemorrhagic), subdural hematomas, craniotomies, carotid procedures, aneurysm management, and seizures
- Advanced neuro equipment including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino ICP monitoring, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
- 24-hour orientation period (2 shifts) to ensure successful onboarding
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required (general ICU does not qualify)
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Active certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Demonstrated expertise in: ventilator management, IV starts, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, isolation precautions, and lumbar drain experience
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Completion of pre-start online modules (8-10 hours) using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
