Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- Work in a comprehensive stroke center specializing in complex neurological conditions including strokes, craniotomies, aneurysms, and post-neurosurgery patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 (may flex to 3:1 during high census); average daily census of 11-12 patients
- Utilize advanced neuro equipment including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
- Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- 24-hour orientation period (2 shifts) to ensure successful onboarding
- 13-week assignment available through the end of February
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required (strong neuro critical care background essential, not general ICU)
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- North Carolina or Compact state RN license
- Proficiency in ventilator management, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, EVDs, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, and isolation precautions
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Willingness to float within facility as needed
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
