Description
Start Date: September 8, 2026
Location: Coastal North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Target patient ratios of 1:6 for Medical/Surgical or Telemetry patients, or 1:4 for Progressive Care Unit level patients. 12-hour orientation provided.
Highlights:
- Emergency Department Inpatient Holding position supporting patients awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Fast-paced environment with diverse adult medical/surgical diagnoses including PCU-level acuity
- Float pool position with flexibility to support Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical, and Telemetry units as needed
- Contract length ranges from 13 weeks up to February 27, 2027 to support the facility through peak holiday season
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and 12-hour unit orientation
- Standard medical equipment including cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and telemetry systems
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Core competencies: Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, feeding tube care, colostomy care, respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula), ABG interpretation, chest tube management, heparin and insulin protocols, isolation precautions, and phlebotomy
- Preferred skills: NIHSS certification, IV insulin protocols, hemodialysis management, port access, central line blood draws, IV starts, CVA care, neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury management, traumatic brain injury care, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement care, and wound care/wound vac experience
- Flexibility to float to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas as staffing needs require
- Availability to participate in storm team or hurricane team assignments during catastrophic events or disasters
