Description
Start Date: September 8, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week. Patient ratios are 1:6 for Medical/Surgical-Telemetry patients or 1:4 for Progressive Care Unit level patients. Every other weekend required. 12-hour orientation provided.
Highlights:
- Emergency Department Holding Unit supporting patients awaiting inpatient bed placement with adult Medical/Surgical and PCU-level diagnoses
- Float pool position with flexibility to work in ED, Med/Surg, and Telemetry areas as needed
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
- Contract lengths from 13 weeks up to February 27, 2027, covering the busy holiday season
- Fast-paced, high-acuity environment with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and Social Services
- Standard medical equipment including cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and telemetry systems
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Previous travel experience required
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in MS/Telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, and critical equipment including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with colostomy care, feeding tube management, renal failure, heparin and insulin protocols, isolation precautions, ABG interpretation, and Rapid Response Team utilization
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Willingness to float to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas as needed
- Availability to work Storm Team/Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or disasters
