Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Coastal North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM; 36 or 48-hour contracts available; 1:6 patient ratio; Every other weekend required; Self-scheduling
Highlights:
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 36 beds serving diverse patient population including cardiac, surgical recovery, respiratory, and renal cases
- Remote telemetry monitoring with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias; comprehensive critical skills including chest tubes, wound vac, central lines, and BiPAP/CPAP
- 13-20 week contract lengths available; first-time travelers accepted; float requirement may include secondary campus location
- Epic charting system and Pyxis medication management; 24 hours of unit orientation provided
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and therapy services
- Up to 7 days pre-approved time off per contract; must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Telemetry nursing experience required
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
- Required skills: Telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PICC lines, IV starts, heparin and insulin administration, PCA pumps, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, wound care and wound vac
- Preferred: Charge experience, bariatric surgery, post-cardiac procedures, CVA management, substance withdrawal, tracheostomy care
- Ability to work during catastrophic events or disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
