Description
Start Date: September 8, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week; patient ratios 1:5-6; weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract; floating required within facility
Highlights:
- 13-20 week contract assignments available with comprehensive 24-hour unit orientation
- Med/Surg unit with remote telemetry monitoring, managing a diverse case mix including COVID isolation, diabetes, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, CVA, GI bleeds, and post-surgical patients
- Clinical skills include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, wound vac therapy, and colostomy/feeding tube care
- Epic EMR system with Pyxis medication dispensing; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including rapid response teams, IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and physical therapy
- First-time travelers accepted; local candidates welcome with applicable rate adjustments
- Up to 7 days of time off may be requested (no holidays or first week); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina or Compact State RN license
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry settings
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy including heparin protocols, wound care, isolation precautions, and non-invasive airway management
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Ability and willingness to work during catastrophic events or disaster situations as part of Storm/Hurricane Team response
- Availability for daily orientation classes during first week
