Job Opportunity – Ultrasound Technologist (OB/GYN Specialty) – North Carolina

Start Date: September 2, 2026 (subject to change based on orientation scheduling)

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants (different rates apply for local candidates within 50 miles)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), 40 hours per week available. No call, no weekends, no floating required.

Highlights:

  • Specialized perinatal scanning for high-risk pregnancies in a high-volume outpatient setting with 50 average daily census and 8 exam rooms
  • Perform Level 2 detailed anatomical surveys, early anatomies, growth assessments, biophysical profiles, Dopplers (MCA & UA), nuchal translucency, transvaginal studies, and fetal echo
  • Work with advanced GE ultrasound equipment in an Epic EMR environment
  • 13-week assignment with no call or weekend requirements; pre-approved time off available (up to 7 days, no holidays)
  • Comprehensive 40-hour orientation program (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
  • Manage diverse maternal-fetal medicine cases including chronic hypertension, gestational diabetes, growth restrictions, and fetal abnormalities

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of ultrasound technologist experience required
  • Previous travel healthcare experience required (not suitable for first-time travelers)
  • ARDMS OB/GYN certification and current BLS certification required
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system required
  • Expertise in high-risk OB and obstetrics required
  • Demonstrated skills in all three trimesters, amniotic fluid index, fetal anatomical surveys, and placenta previa
  • Neonatal head and heart imaging experience required
  • Experience with GE ultrasound equipment required
  • Competency in abdominal aorta and appendix general ultrasound imaging
  • Outpatient experience with MCA and UA Dopplers, Viewpoint, and fetal echocardiography
  • North Carolina state license or Compact license
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • Flexibility for orientation start day (may begin Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of first week)
  • Completion of pre-start online modules (4-5 hours, non-billable)

Preferred Skills:

  • Portable ultrasound experience
  • Additional general ultrasound skills: liver, pancreas, pediatric abdomen/pelvis, and spleen
  • Amniocentesis procedure experience
  • Renal/pelvis imaging: bladder, hernia, ovaries, prostate, renal/bladder, uterus, and vaginal studies
  • Small parts expertise: breast cyst aspiration, breast ultrasound, superficial masses, testicles/scrotum, and thyroid
