Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. Block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday). Minimum 13-week assignment.

Highlights:

• Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with post-surgical and med-surg patient population
• Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, with flexibility to 7:1 only in extreme cases
• Epic EMR system utilized throughout the facility
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Focus on pain management for orthopedic and spine patients requiring attentive, customer service-oriented nursing care
• May float to other med-surg units within the facility based on census and staffing needs

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with orthopedic experience required
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers must have Epic experience
• Active North Carolina or Compact State RN license
• Current certifications: BLS (required), NIH Stroke Scale (required)
• ACLS certification preferred
• Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with total joint replacement, ortho trauma, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury patients
• Skills in blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PCA pumps, heparin protocols, and pain management
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
