Description
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. Block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday). Minimum 13-week assignment.
Highlights:
- Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with post-surgical and med-surg patient population
- Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, with flexibility to 7:1 only in extreme cases
- Epic EMR system utilized throughout the facility
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Focus on pain management for orthopedic and spine patients requiring attentive, customer service-oriented nursing care
- May float to other med-surg units within the facility based on census and staffing needs
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with orthopedic experience required
- Epic EMR experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers must have Epic experience
- Active North Carolina or Compact State RN license
- Current certifications: BLS (required), NIH Stroke Scale (required)
- ACLS certification preferred
- Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
- Experience with total joint replacement, ortho trauma, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury patients
- Skills in blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PCA pumps, heparin protocols, and pain management
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
