Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist

Location: Mayo Clinic – Charlton Building (MRI), 10 3rd Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55905

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 5x8-Hour Shifts | Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) OR Evening Shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)

Schedule Notes: Fixed schedule (travelers assigned to day or evening schedule; no rotation between day/evening) | No call, no overnights, no holidays

Position Overview
The MRI Technologist produces high-quality diagnostic images that meet the clinical standards established by the Mayo Clinic Radiology Department. Utilizing advanced MRI technology across multiple clinical specialties, the technologist ensures strict adherence to radiation and magnetic field safety protocols for patients, staff, and themselves. This role demands strong independent problem-solving skills, seamless teamwork, and exceptional patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Imaging Operations: Perform specialized MRI diagnostic procedures, including Neuro MRI, Abdominal MRI, and Musculoskeletal (MSK) MRI, utilizing advanced equipment and protocols.
Patient-Centered Care: Provide compassionate care, effectively screen patients for MRI safety, and prepare them for imaging procedures to ensure comfort and image quality.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous safety guidelines (the magnetic resonance environment) for patients, support staff, and self, maintaining commitment to quality and safety standards.
Technical & System Efficiency: Utilize Epic EHR for accurate patient charting, workflow management, and documentation.
Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively across the radiology department, demonstrating flexibility, attention to detail, and a collaborative work ethic.

Position Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements
ARRT (MR): Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in Magnetic Resonance.
BLS: Active Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in an MRI setting.

Proven experience with Epic EHR charting systems.

Education: Graduate of an ARRT-approved or recognized Health Science program.

Language: Professional fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).

Preferred Competencies & Clinical Skills
Demonstrated proficiency in Neuro, Abdominal, and MSK MRI protocols.

Strong organizational, multitasking, and independent problem-solving capabilities.

High adaptability in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical department.
