Description
Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Rotating shifts based on organizational needs (may work primarily days or nights with flexibility to switch as needed); 4:1 patient ratio; some weekend coverage required (3-4 weekend days per month); 36-hour orientation
Highlights:
- Mixed Med-Surg/PCU unit with 6 transitional PCU beds (PCU experience not required)
- Daily census of 23 patients across 27 beds with strong interdisciplinary support
- EPIC EMR system utilized for charting and documentation
- May float to lower acuity units within the organization based on staffing needs
- Comprehensive orientation and support from Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, Rapid Response Teams, and more
- Care for adult and geriatric populations with varied diagnoses including general medical conditions, organ failure, and behavioral health needs
Requirements:
- Active Ohio RN license (Compact license accepted) in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- IV certification and competency in starting and maintaining IVs
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Strong skills in chest tube management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor)
- Travel nursing experience is a plus but not required
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)

Key Responsibilities:
- Start, manage, and maintain IV access and administer medications safely
- Monitor patient vital signs and responses to treatment interventions
- Provide patient and family education on treatments, medications, and self-care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Perform med-surg procedures including Foley catheter insertion, PICC line management, chest tube care, and assistance with bedside procedures
- Document accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR
- Respond appropriately to patient emergencies and utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
- Adhere to hospital policies and protocols to maintain patient safety and quality care

Important Compliance Information:
Candidates must be aware of the urgent Ohio fingerprinting process. Fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing to meet the strict compliance deadline of the Tuesday prior to start date. Candidates currently outside Ohio but within driving distance will be required to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible. Those at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently. Detailed instructions will be provided by the Credentialing team. One pre-approved time off request is permitted and must be included at time of submission.
