Description
Start Date: September 8, 2026
Location: North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Patient ratio 1:3-4. Every other weekend required. Float to sister ICCU unit as needed. Contract length 13 weeks or longer (through February 27).
Highlights:
- ICU stepdown environment with 20-bed unit and average daily census of 18 patients
- Critical care focus requiring strong drip titration skills including vasoactive medications (Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Cardene, Precedex, Nitroglycerin)
- Diverse patient population including post-rapid response, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, and post-operative patients from multiple service lines
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy
- Advanced monitoring capabilities with bedside telemetry and remote backup systems
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of progressive care or stepdown nursing experience required
- Current North Carolina or Compact State RN license
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Demonstrated competency in arterial line management and titration of vasoactive drips (required)
- Strong telemetry experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency in central line care, PICC management, blood product administration, and heparin protocols
- Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
- IV start competency and conscious sedation experience required
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to assignment start date
- First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information:
- One week of orientation with required daily attendance for hospital classes
- Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off available (no holidays during first week)
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Scrub colors: Navy, white, or combination of both
- Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours, non-billable)
