Description
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. 13-20 week contract assignments accepted. Self-scheduling available.
Highlights:
- Patient ratio of 1:6 on a 36-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit serving adult and geriatric populations
- Comprehensive case mix including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, CHF, renal failure, pneumonia, post-surgical recovery, CVA, and wound care
- Full interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Phlebotomy, Radiology, and Rapid Response Teams
- 24-hour orientation program with Epic charting and Pyxis medication system
- Float requirement: May be required to float to main campus location approximately 32 minutes away
- First-time travelers and local candidates accepted; maximum 7 days of time off per contract period
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, remote telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, central and PICC line management
- Experience with blood product administration, wound care/wound vac, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and isolation precautions
- Competency in pre/post hemodialysis management, feeding tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and bowel obstruction care
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Willingness to work 2 of 3 major holidays and serve on Storm/Hurricane team as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Charge nurse experience
- ACLS and Telemetry certifications
- Experience with post-cardiac surgery, post-MI, post-angiogram, and post-thoracic surgery patients
- Community hospital experience and Epic charting system familiarity
- Skills in IV insulin protocols, bariatric surgery care, port access/management, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
