# Job Opportunity – Cardiac Telemetry RN – North Carolina

Start Date: September 8, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week contracts available. Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible). Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step-down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients.

Highlights:

  • Comprehensive cardiac and cardiovascular surgical step-down unit with 44 beds and diverse case mix including post-CABG, TAVR, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology procedures
  • Advanced cardiac telemetry experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, and sheath removal
  • Epic charting system with 24 hours of paid orientation
  • Interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, physical therapy, and unit secretaries
  • Exposure to cutting-edge cardiac procedures including Watchman, Mitral Clip, TAVR, and various vascular surgeries
  • Contract staff will follow unit rotation for floating (not first to float)

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry or step-down experience required
  • Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/step-down nursing, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac cath care, cardiac drip management and titration
  • Experience with chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Arterial line management experience
  • Wound care and wound vac experience
  • Previous charge nurse experience
  • Epic charting system experience

Patient Population:

  • Adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and vascular diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD, PAD, and carotid stenosis
  • Post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
  • Post-procedure patients following cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology procedures, pacemaker placements, and cardioversion

  • Navy scrubs required
  • Pre-start modules (8-10 hours, non-billable) must be completed online before start date
  • Requested time off (up to 7 days) must be disclosed and approved prior to contract signing; no additional RTO requests accepted after booking
  • Local candidates accepted (rate differences may apply for those within 50 miles)

  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays during contract period
