Description
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 13-week assignment, 3x12 day shifts with variable start times (0700-1900, 0800-2000, 0900-2100, 1000-2200, 1100-2300). 60 guaranteed hours per 2 weeks. On-call requirement of 1 shift per week, primarily overnight (2230-0700). Weekend on-call required (one Saturday or Sunday night per schedule). Must be available to arrive within 30 minutes of being called. Patient ratio 2:1.

- 16-bed PACU unit with daily census of 40 patients across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy support
- Diverse case mix including bariatrics, ENT, general surgery, gynecology, neuro, ophthalmology, orthopedics, vascular, and pediatric PACU
- Free parking and scrubs provided; on-site call sleep rooms available for staff convenience
- 18 hours of orientation to ensure successful integration into the team
Requirements:
- Current Alaska RN license (strongly preferred to be in hand prior to submission; compact license acceptable)
- Minimum 1 year of PACU/perioperative nursing experience
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Experience with Phase I PACU, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition, blood product administration, central line care, IV vasopressors, conscious sedation, ventilated patients, and pain management
- Epic charting experience preferred; Level II Trauma experience preferred
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Willingness to float to similar units within scope of practice
- Flexibility to work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
