Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8-hour or 12-hour options available (1900-0730). Flexible scheduling includes 4x12 shifts if preferred. Every other weekend and some holidays required. Block scheduling likely to accommodate preferences. 3:1 patient ratio.

• Float across multiple critical care environments including Neuro ICU, Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery ICU, Medical-Surgical ICU, and Intermediate/Progressive Care units
• Epic electronic medical record system with 28 hours of comprehensive orientation
• High-acuity patient population with exposure to advanced procedures and specialized equipment
• Robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and dedicated unit secretaries

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or current Compact license
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 5 years of acute care RN experience with at least 2 years within the last 3 years in critical care specialty
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Competency across multiple ICU specialties including medical, surgical, cardiovascular, neurological, and/or burn intensive care
• Strong telemetry and arrhythmia interpretation skills – must pass facility telemetry examination prior to start (80% passing score with specific criteria for lethal rhythms and heart blocks)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Preferred: NIHSS, TNCC certifications, and previous charge nurse experience
• Must reside 50+ miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)

Clinical Skills Required:

• Advanced critical care competencies including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive drip titration, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
• Experience with arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, pulmonary artery catheters, and CVP monitoring
• Arrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, post-cardiac surgery care
• CVVHD/CRRT (Nextstage), BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula
• Stroke/CVA management, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, post-neurosurgery and post-craniotomy care
• Blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, procedural sedation, infection prevention protocols
• Specialized skills preferred: ECMO care, IABP, Impella, external ventricular drains, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains

Compliance Requirements:

• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Floating to multiple ICU units and progressive care areas as needed
• 6-7 weekend shifts per contract period
• Parking permit required if utilizing onsite parking; alternative transportation options available
