Description
Start Date: October 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour shifts between 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, every other weekend required. Four 12-hour shifts per week. Holidays as applicable to operations. Patient ratios: 4:1 days, 5:1 nights and weekends. 24 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights:- Float across multiple specialties including cardiac telemetry, neurology, orthopedic trauma, and oncology within a Magnet-designated, Level One Trauma Center
- Care for complex and dynamic adult patient populations across both medical and surgical general care units and intermediate care (IMC) units
- Epic EMR system utilized facility-wide
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
- Travel nursing assignment with required minimum 2 years acute care experience in medical-surgical or telemetry specialty
- Facility ranked as Wisconsin's top hospital and recognized as one of the nation's leading academic health systems
- Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact State RN license
- BLS certification from American Heart Association required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in medical-surgical or telemetry specialty
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Demonstrated experience working in multiple Med/Surg units including cardiac, spine, and neuro specialties
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation skills and cardiac telemetry experience required
- Must pass facility telemetry competency exam prior to start date (80% passing score required; 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms and third-degree heart blocks)
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Must live 50 miles or more from the facility
- Willingness to float to neurology and oncology units as needed
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Post-cardiac procedures (MI, angiogram, cardiac cath)
- Neurological care (neuro stepdown, post-neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury)
- Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement care
- IV therapy including heparin and insulin protocols, PCA management, and peripheral nerve blocks
- Wound care and wound VAC management
- Tracheostomy care and feeding tube management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Chest tube management, surgical drains, and oxygen administration
- Isolation precautions and proper PPE utilization
