Schedule:

12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Contract length: 13-26 weeks. Patient ratio: 1:5-6. Weekend requirement: 12-16 shifts per contract (every other weekend). Floating to other units as needed.

Highlights:

• Diverse patient population including dementia, diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, surgical recovery, renal failure, hypertension, and cellulitis
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
• Comprehensive 24-hour orientation plus week-one hospital orientation
• Specialized experience with COVID isolation areas and stepdown-level care coordination
• First-time travelers welcome; local candidates accepted

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina RN license or Compact license (pending acceptable for submission)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical and/or Telemetry experience
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring (remote monitoring), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis care, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, IV starts, heparin administration, PCA pumps, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Availability for all week-one orientation classes
• Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Epic EMR system
• MS/Tele specialty experience
• Skills in accessing ports, CVA care, surgical drain management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
• Previous charge nurse experience

Position Details:

• Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• No time off requests allowed during first week or after contract signing
• Uniform: Navy/White scrubs
• Pre-start modules (8-10 hours, non-billable) must be completed before orientation
• Candidates must complete required testing within 48 hours of signing
• Unit consolidation and reassignment may occur mid-contract based on facility needs
