Description
Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Alabama
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts (traveler preference), 1845-0715; Block scheduling may be accommodated; Every other weekend required
Highlights:
- Neuro ICU specializing in neurocritical care patients including ischemic/hemorrhagic strokes, post-thrombectomies, traumatic brain injuries, status epilepticus, and spinal cord injuries
- 1:2 patient ratios with float to CCU as needed
- Level II Trauma Facility with 420 staffed beds, recognized as a Best-In-State employer by Forbes for 3 consecutive years
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
- 10-bed unit with daily census of 8-10 patients; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
- First-time travelers welcome; contract length and housing details discussed with qualified candidates
Requirements:
- Active Alabama RN license or Compact license required at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year Neuro ICU experience required; 2 years total nursing experience preferred
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with arterial line management, ventilated patients, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Proficiency with specialized equipment including intracranial pressure monitors and external ventricular drains
- Must reside at least 90 miles from facility location
- Experience working in large healthcare facilities required
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered); Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
