Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit – Ohio

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week; includes weekdays and some weekends (3-4 weekend days per month); 36-hour orientation provided

Highlights:

  • Mixed Med-Surg/PCU unit with 27 beds and transitional care beds – PCU experience NOT required
  • Patient ratio of 4:1 across all shifts
  • EPIC EMR system utilized for documentation
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including PT, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and more
  • Opportunity to work with diverse patient populations including adults and geriatrics with general medical conditions
  • Float to lower acuity units as needed within the organization

Requirements:

  • Active Ohio RN license (Compact or state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • IV certification and experience starting and maintaining IVs
  • EPIC EMR experience strongly preferred
  • Skills in Med-Surg/Tele, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, chest tube management, PICC line care, isolation precautions, and oxygen administration
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities
  • Travel nursing experience a plus
  • Nursing degree from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required (at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership role)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Start and manage IVs and peripheral lines
  • Administer medications safely and monitor patient vitals and responses
  • Provide patient education on treatments and self-care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams on comprehensive patient care plans
  • Utilize EPIC EMR for accurate charting and documentation
  • Perform med-surg procedures including Foley catheter placement, PICC line management, chest tube care, and more
  • Care for patients with diverse diagnoses including organ failure, substance withdrawal, behavioral issues, and general medical conditions
  • Follow all hospital policies and maintain patient safety standards

  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required

  • WB Permit (Budget Option): Weekend/holiday access to 9th Ave East & West Garages; 24/7 access to West Campus surface lots with shuttle service provided – $16.35/month
  • CXS Permit: Weekend/holiday access to 9th Ave East & West Garages; 24/7 access to Buckeye and West Campus surface lots – $32.83/month

Important Compliance Information:

  • Strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start date – no exceptions
  • Ohio fingerprinting process is time-sensitive and must be completed immediately after contract signing
  • Candidates within driving distance of Ohio must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible; candidates at extreme distances will be mailed fingerprinting packets
  • Unresponsiveness or lack of cooperation with credentialing may result in assignment push or cancellation
  • Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility; current employees ineligible
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
