We are currently hiring for a Recreational Therapist!
Position Details:
- Specialty: Behavioral Health
- Location: Abbeville General Hospital located in Abbeville, LA
- Unit: 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit treating patients ages 18+
- Shift: day shift, 40 hours per week
- Anticipated pay range: $22/hr - $29/hr
Position Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct activity therapy assessment within 72 hours of admission, evaluate patient’s ability to utilize leisure time productively, and contribute findings and interventions to the Master Treatment Plan.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Develop measurable goals and outcomes aligned with patient and family needs, prioritize functional therapeutic interventions based on assessment and length of stay, and complete assigned portion of multidisciplinary continuing care plan.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis support to clients in acute distress; assess risk factors and make appropriate referrals.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments, and submit required reports in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
- Client Education: Educate clients on mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies and self-care techniques; promote mental health awareness and prevention within the community.
- Collaboration and Consultation: Partner with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, consult on complex cases, collaborate with court systems, and participate in referral development.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in recreational, art, or music therapy required
- License/certification: CTRS issued by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation, BLS required
- Experience: a minimum of 1-2 years of experience providing activity/recreational therapy; priority consideration will be given to those with experience in a behavioral health/psychiatric setting
