Description

Job Title: X-Ray Technologist (Radiologic Technologist)\nJob Summary:\nThe X-ray Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations using X-ray equipment, ensuring high-quality images, and maintaining patient safety and comfort.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nPrepare and position patients for X-ray procedures, ensuring safety and comfort.\n\nOperate and maintain X-ray equipment, following safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure.\n\nCapture high-quality diagnostic images for physician review and diagnosis.\n\nVerify patient identity and review medical history prior to procedures.\n\nMaintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and documentation.\n\nCollaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.\n\nAdhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.\n\nPerform routine quality control checks on equipment.\n\nComply with all federal, state, and facility-specific guidelines and safety procedures.\n\nQualifications:\nCompletion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.\n\nARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification preferred or required (depending on state).\n\nCPR certification.\n\nStrong communication skills and patient care abilities.\n\nProficiency in using medical imaging software and technology.\n\nLicensing and Certification Requirements by State:\nStates That Require State Licensure or Certification:\nThese states require radiologic technologists to be licensed or certified, typically through passing an exam such as the ARRT or a state-specific test:\n\nCalifornia – Requires certification by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH-RHB).\n\nTexas – Requires certification through the Texas Medical Board.\n\nNew York – Licensure required; must be registered with the NYS Department of Health.\n\nFlorida – Requires licensure from the Florida Department of Health.\n\nMassachusetts – Requires state licensure.\n\nIllinois – Requires accreditation through the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.\n\nOhio – Licensure through the Ohio Department of Health.\n\nNew Jersey – State license required via the Department of Environmental Protection.\n\nOregon – Licensure required through the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.\n\nNorth Carolina – Requires state certification for certain roles.\n\nNevada – Requires state licensure through the Nevada State Health Division.\n\nHawaii – Requires state licensing.\n\nAlaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin – All require state licensing or certification, often through ARRT or a state board.\n\nStates That Do NOT Require State Licensing for Radiologic Technologists:\nWhile ARRT certification may still be preferred by employers, these states do not mandate a state license for general X-ray techs:\n\nAlabama\n\nAlaska (limited license for certain procedures)\n\nIdaho\n\nMichigan\n\nMissouri\n\nNorth Carolina (only for specific procedures or roles)\n\nSouth Dakota\n\n✅ Note: Requirements can change.
