Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active California RN license required at time of submission (CA RN)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or American Red Cross) required at time of submission
- EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required — Epic experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience in PACU or critical care in an acute care hospital of similar size and complexity
- At least 2 years experience in airway management and post-anesthesia care
- Experience with central lines and post-procedure care in PACU or ICU settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of unit-specific age criteria for patient population (pediatric and adult post-op care)
- Strong critical thinking, assessment skills, and clear English communication (read, write, hear, and verbal)
- Timely completion of unit-specific orientation and competency validation
- Two professional references from the last 12 months
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert post-anesthesia care to patients across diagnoses (cardiovascular, pulmonary, GI, neuro, renal, endocrine, sepsis, oncology, pediatric and adult surgical patients)
- Monitor and manage airway, hemodynamics, pain control, and post-procedure complications
- Recognize and intervene in life-threatening situations and escalate to Charge Nurse and physicians as needed
- Develop, implement, and coordinate interdisciplinary patient and family care plans using the EHR
- Manage patient care directly and through delegation to other nursing staff while maintaining standards of practice
- Anticipate patient needs, communicate updates to the healthcare team, and document interventions in EPIC
- Provide patient and family education, including clear discharge instructions and follow-up care guidance
- Uphold Infection Control Principles, Patient Bill of Rights, and unit policies and procedures
