- Shifts: 12-hour nights (19:00 - 07:30), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940–$2040 per week (based on experience and qualifications)
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
- Staffing Ratios: Goal 1:4 (may be up to 1:5)
- Charting / EMR: EPIC
- Orientation: Comprehensive orientation provided (first week dayshift, second week on-unit with preceptor)
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience, with at least 1 year of current specialty experience in Progressive Care/Telemetry or similar
- Active RN license: compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of submission (Ohio nursing license preferred)
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- BLS and ACLS required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Clinical skills: telemetry experience, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, blood product administration, central/PICC line management
- Travel nursing experience required (previous Travel RN assignments preferred)
- Oncology or hematology experience preferred but not required
- Ability to float to other MedSurg Oncology/Med-Surg units as needed
- Two professional references required (one from a manager/director or formal leader)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adults and geriatric patients with acute leukemia and hematology diagnoses
- Monitor and interpret telemetry; assess and manage cardiac dysrhythmias (Telemetry RN responsibilities)
- Administer IV therapies, manage central and peripheral lines, and safely administer blood products
- Implement infection prevention and patient fall prevention protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social work, and physician teams
- Participate in rapid response teams and escalate care appropriately
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient progress using EPIC electronic medical records
- Participate in self-scheduling, including variable weekend shifts based on unit needs
- Float to other MedSurg Oncology units as required to support patient care
