- Job Title: Neuro RN / Travel Nurse — Med-Surg Acute (Neuroscience)
- Setting: Neuro Med-Surg Acute Unit (54 beds) — Level 1 trauma center
- Employment Type: Travel Contract / Travel Nursing Job
- Duration: 13 weeks (March 30, 2026 – June 29, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Hours per Week: 36 hours (guaranteed)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Charting System: EPIC (electronic health record experience preferred)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2130–$2250
Qualifications & Job Requirements — Registered Nurse (RN)
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or documentation that Illinois RN application is in process
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN on a dedicated neuro unit or neuroscience/neurology med-surg unit
- Experience working in a Level 1 trauma center required
- Previous travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
- Experience titrating heparin drips (PTT-based protocols) and other vasoactive/neuro drips
- Ability to float in rotation with staff and adapt to general med-surg floors as needed
- Negative drug screen required (OSF is a Drug-Free Campus)
Responsibilities — Neuro Nursing & Clinical Duties
- Provide high-quality care for patients with stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, head injuries, and other neuroscience diagnoses
- Titrate drips, including heparin infusions, per unit protocols and patient-specific orders
- Perform neurological assessments, monitor changes, and escalate concerns to the multidisciplinary team
- Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, physicians, nurse aides, and monitor techs
- Utilize EPIC for accurate charting, documentation, and care coordination
- Participate in unit-specific orientation, continuing education, and competency validation
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection control, and quality improvement
- Float to other units as needed and perform skills within demonstrated competency
- Follow professional dress code guidelines (no scrub color requirement; tattoos covered; only ear piercings allowed)
