Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,370 - $2,500 (competitive travel nurse pay)
• Position: Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) — Travel Nurse / Travel Assignment
• Location: Morristown, NJ (serving multiple counties in Morris County and surrounding areas)
• Assignment Duration: 26 weeks (April 20, 2026 – October 17, 2026)
• Shift: 8-hour days, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Schedule: 5 days per week; 40 guaranteed hours
• On Call/Weekend: 1 weekend per month required
• Float: Yes — travel/home hospice visits to different counties as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years RN experience in a home hospice environment (home hospice nurse / palliative care experience preferred)
• Current New Jersey RN License (required)
• Associate's (ASN) degree or Nursing Diploma with RN licensure
• BLS certification (required)
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license and reliable transportation (home visits across Morris County)
• Experience using an EMR (electronic medical record) — accurate documentation and timely charting
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills for patient- and family-centered palliative care
• Preferred: 3+ years of RN experience in hospice or palliative care

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine appropriateness for hospice and develop individualized hospice care plans
• Provide skilled nursing care and palliative symptom management in patients' homes as a hospice RN / travel nurse
• Ensure appropriate utilization of hospice services and maintain visit productivity standards for home visits
• Complete admission, discharge, and re-visit documentation in the EMR accurately and in a timely manner
• Use age-appropriate teaching and communication techniques with patients and families; document education provided
• Assume case management responsibilities: develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team (IDT)
• Participate in IDT meetings every two weeks and communicate patient progress and goals to team members
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and caregivers, follow infection control protocols, and manage medications safely
• Attend monthly staff meetings and engage in performance improvement and quality initiatives
• Provide orientation, mentorship, and cross-training to new staff as needed and support agency growth
• Float to different counties as required to support patient care across our New Jersey service area
