Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years of Utilization Review or Utilization Management experience
• EPIC electronic medical record experience required
• Acute hospital experience required (inpatient concurrent review preferred)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current NC RN license or compact state RN license
• BLS certification required
• ACM/CCM certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Apply established criteria (InterQual and MCG) to evaluate appropriateness of admission, level of care, continued hospitalization, and readiness for care transition
• Conduct concurrent review and proactively resolve care, service, or transition delays in collaboration with the care team
• Serve as a utilization management nurse and payer liaison for third-party payers to support reimbursement and authorization
• Coordinate care with physicians, case managers, treatment teams, patients, and families to support discharge planning and transitions of care
• Communicate with physicians to obtain appropriate documentation to support authorization of services
• Manage insurance denials, peer-to-peer reviews, and appeals (preferred)
• Support timely movement of patients throughout the continuum of care and improve utilization metrics
