Job Details
- Location: Hartford, Connecticut (06105) — Hartford respiratory therapy jobs / CT travel respiratory therapist
- Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Care Unit (acute care)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 19, 2026 – July 18, 2026)
- Shift: 12 Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Employment Type: Travel Contract / Travel Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
Required Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist license/certification (RRT or equivalent) in the U.S.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- At least 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting (acute care preferred)
- Ability to pass onboarding health and competency requirements (fit test, drug screen, immunizations, specialty-specific skills checklist)
Preferred Qualifications & Clinical Skills
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred
- Experience with mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
- Proficiency in arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and interpretation
- Airway management, oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, aerosol and inhaled medication administration
- Critical care / ICU or step-down experience a plus
- Strong documentation skills in electronic medical records (EMR)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapy to patients in the hospital setting
- Assess, plan, and implement respiratory treatments and interventions, including ventilator management and ABG interpretation
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
- Manage airways, deliver oxygen therapy, and administer aerosolized medications
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to coordinate patient care
- Respond to codes and emergency airway situations as needed
- Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and complete required competency checklists
- Participate in unit- and hospital-level safety and quality improvement initiatives
