Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1910 - $2010
• Location: Kankakee, Illinois (60901) — local travel nursing job in Illinois
• Setting: Acute Care – Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) / Cardiac Stepdown
• Unit: 22 private beds, Cardiac Stepdown
• Shift: 12-hour nights (5:00pm – 5:30am)
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Duration: 13 weeks (June 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday
• Orientation: One 12-hour shift

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand (required)
• Minimum 1 year of RN clinical experience; Cardiac Stepdown, Progressive Care, or ICU experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required — experience with electronic medical records for travel nurses
• Strong teamwork, positive attitude, and effective communication skills
• Valid driver’s license required for submission
• First-time travel nurses welcome — great opportunity for travel RN and Cardiac RN candidates

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care for cardiac and post-surgical diagnoses including cardiac cath patients, pacemaker care, tracheostomies, continuous CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips (e.g., Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro for BP, insulin, heparin, dopamine/dobutamine) and follow renal dosing protocols
• Monitor telemetry and collaborate with centralized tele tech for continuous cardiac monitoring
• Float to ICU or med-surg/PCU as needed to support patient care and unit staffing
• Delegate and coordinate care with nurse aides (typical 1:10 aide ratio) for blood sugars, vitals, and ADLs
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation using EPIC and follow hospital policies for charting and handoffs
• Adhere to unit standards for infection control, patient safety, and quality measures
