PCU Registered Nurse (Travel) – 13-week assignment in Roanoke, VA 24014. Telemetry/Stepdown RN needed; EPIC charting, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required.
Job Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (Travel Nurse / Travel RN pay)
- Setting: 20-bed Telemetry Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Medical/Pulmonary with Renal overflow
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- Charting System: EPIC required (Telemetry RN experience preferred)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Location: Roanoke, Virginia (24014) — Blue Ridge Mountains; Virginia nursing jobs / Roanoke healthcare
- On-Site Position: Must be on-site for this hospital travel assignment
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Virginia or Compact State (required)
- Minimum 1 year recent PCU/Stepdown or Telemetry RN experience
- Proven experience with EPIC charting
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Strong cardiac monitoring skills, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Experience with ventilator care for chronic vented patients (non-ICU level)
- Ability to float to other PCU or Med-Surg units within skillset
- COVID-19 and seasonal flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with pulmonary, renal, cardiac, and complex medical needs
- Continuous cardiac monitoring and interpretation; manage cardiac drips (no titration)
- Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
- Participate in Rapid Response and Code teams as a Telemetry RN / PCU RN
- Administer medications, blood products, and manage central and peripheral lines
- Care for patients with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator requirements
- Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Social Services
