  • Position: Travel Labor & Delivery RN / L&D RN (LDRP)
  • Shift: 12-hour Nights (18:45 – 07:15)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Unit: 8-bed LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery)
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue or Pink
  • EMR: GE Centricity Perinatal (CPN), Medhost

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Active RN licensure (compact license accepted or Texas RN license)
  • Current BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring and STABLE preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience — LDRP or labor floor experience preferred
  • Ability to circulate C-sections and assist in the OR; experience with intraoperative support for OB/GYN
  • High-risk labor management skills, including induction, augmentation, and Pitocin titration
  • Proficient in fetal heart rate interpretation and escalation of care
  • Competence in neonatal resuscitation, postpartum/couplet care, and routine newborn assessments
  • Preferred: prior rural hospital or LDRP unit experience and comfort working independently on a travel nursing assignment

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide full-scope clinical care across Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery (LDRP)
  • Manage intrapartum care including induction, augmentation, high-risk labor monitoring, and emergency interventions
  • Interpret fetal heart rate tracings and promptly escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team (physicians, midwives, neonatal providers)
  • Circulate C-sections, assist with immediate newborn stabilization, and lead or participate in neonatal resuscitation (NRP)
  • Perform routine newborn assessments, administer newborn care, and deliver postpartum/couplet nursing
  • Float within Women’s Services as needed to support OB/GYN, postpartum, and nursery teams
  • Work independently in a low-volume, high-acuity rural hospital setting while collaborating with the care team
  • Maintain patient ratios: 1:1 for active labor and 3:1 for couplet/postpartum care
  • Document care accurately and efficiently in GE Centricity Perinatal (CPN) and Medhost EMR systems
  • Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety protocols, and evidence-based nursing standards
