Required Qualifications

  • Current license with the Ohio Respiratory Care Board (state-licensed respiratory therapist)
  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications highly preferred (NRP required for NICU; training available if needed)
  • CRT or RRT credential accepted
  • Experience with mechanical ventilators (including 980 vents), high flow nasal cannula, and heated high flow devices
  • Willingness to work with infants/newborns (neonatal respiratory training provided if needed)
  • At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience preferred (critical care/ICU experience a plus)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care across all age groups in critical care and general hospital units (ICU, CVICU, ER, NICU Step Down, Med-Surg)
  • Manage ventilators, high flow nasal cannula, heated high flow devices, and other advanced respiratory equipment
  • Perform ventilator management, arterial blood gas analysis, and weaning protocols
  • Administer nebulized and inhaled medications and deliver evidence-based pulmonary care
  • Assist with tracheostomies, bronchoscopies, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), arterial lines, and intubations
  • Collaborate on multidisciplinary cardiopulmonary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Educate patients and families on disease management, pulmonary rehabilitation, and home care modalities (CPAP/BiPAP, oxygen therapy)
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and performance improvement initiatives
