Travel Nursing Job Details

- Unit: 28-bed PCU/Stepdown (Unit 4SE) — progressive care/stepdown nursing

PCU RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a compact state (required) — Ohio nursing jobs, Youngstown RN
- BLS and ACLS (required); NIH Stroke Certification (required)
- Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available) — cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia competency
- Minimum 1 year as an RN (required); 6 months acute care hospital experience preferred
- Ventilator management experience required — invasive and advanced respiratory modalities
- Experience managing insulin drips, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and advanced respiratory support (ventilators, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, Airvo)
- Preferred: BSN, CCRN or PCCN certification, EPIC EHR training, completed Critical Care Course
PCU / Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized progressive care nursing plans
- Administer medications and safely manage continuous drips per facility policy (critical care medication management)
- Care for high-acuity patients with multi-system organ failure, trauma, respiratory failure, renal issues, and post-surgical needs
- Manage advanced respiratory modalities including mechanical ventilators, tracheostomies, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
- Perform cardiac rhythm monitoring, identify and respond to dysrhythmias, and participate in rapid response and code events
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapists, case management) and act as a patient advocate
- Float to similar or lower acuity units (PCU, SDU, IMC) as assigned — stepdown nursing flexibility
- Maintain patient safety, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and document accurately in the EHR (EPIC experience a plus)
- Provide patient and family education, discharge teaching, and support throughout care transitions
